Truck drivers by day and night – heroes by heart
I recently learned of a group of truck drivers with big hearts. This small band of drivers has discovered just how lonely a long haul can be and chose to make their rides more enjoyable and entertaining, all while assisting animals in need of travel.
They are known as ‘Fur the Haul of it – Critter Courier,’ assisting transport of wild and domestic animals from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia to Southern Alberta. If there are animals in need of transport from their point A to point B, these drivers are opening their hearts and cabs to any furry or feathered hitchhiker. They are asking no money for the task as they find payment by way of keeping them alert and comforted on the long roads.
The manager of the team of drivers is Josh Aldrich who started this mission almost three years back. Josh and his partners, Jesse Corrigan and Wayne Skinner of Cranbrook (pictured above), have recruited drivers from Vancouver to Calgary who are also willing to help migrate some of humankind’s best friends while putting up with a few messes along the way.
It is refreshing to know that strangers have such commitment and love for all of our world’s creatures. In my eyes – HEROES!
Josh Aldrich expresses the need for such services and is hopeful to recruit truckers across all of Canada.
This team would be grateful for donations of various size crates, cleaning supplies, a website designer and volunteer staff to aid in scheduling as they currently tend to all matters themselves without any remuneration.
The world needs to know of the kindness exuded from these fine truckers, so spread the word and If anyone can assist in any way please contact Josh Aldrich at 250-464-0636.
Or check out their Facebook page.
Blessings to these drivers – may their travels always be safe.
