U 21 Music Festival this weekend
Featuring performances by Beckham Barr, LO-HI, Jack Spring, Mantra, Charity Standing Orders, Sofia Cannon, Monico Bombardier, Peri Demarchi & Dustin Colbert
The Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society presents “Next Play”- a U 21 Music Festival – Friday, May 22 and Saturday, 23 at Rotary Park in Cranbrook.
Performances will be Friday evening starting from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday afternoon from 4-9 p.m. Free admission and food trucks on site Friday and Saturday.
Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society board member Paul Sawatsky says this about Next Play: “What the youth want above everything else is simply the chance to perform. A musical breath of fresh air is stirring here in our corner of B.C. If we all continue our support and work to provide numerous performance opportunities, this movement will gain momentum and roll outward to other regions like a wave of sound spilling from a speaker and filling the spaces between us all.”
Society President Ward Morton said, “There is a real shift happening for youth in the Kootenays. We are very proud of the young musicians from Creston and the Cranbrook area as well as Fernie and the Elk Valley They are the reason we do this. I remember not too long ago, when I was 16 (long ago!) being invited to play in a battle of the bands. I don’t remember who won, or much about the songs we played, but I do remember how good I felt after playing for my peers. I still talk to some of the people that I met.”
The youth in the Kootenay basin deserve to showcase their amazing talent. We at Fisher Peak Performing Artist Society work every day, as a non-profit society, to make this their reality.
Join us May 22 and 23 at Rotary Park Cranbrook. We want to show you something!
