Valentine’s game raising funds for education fund

The Kootenay ICE has announced its game on Wednesday, February 14 against the Saskatoon Blades is being called the ICE Education Fund Game and Teacher Appreciation.

The event is to create awareness and raise money for the ICE Education Fund, while also saying thank you to the tremendous teachers in the community.

To help raise money for the ICE Education Fund, 50% of the net retail sales, 15% of the dollars from walk-up ticket sales and 100% of the net sales from the Memorial Cup coins during Wednesday’s game will go towards the fund. In addition, two team signed jerseys will be auctioned off with 100% of the net proceeds going towards the fund.

Kootenay ICE licence plate covers sponsored by Spring Honda will be available for purchase with a donation of $10 or more to the ICE Education Fund. The licence plate covers will be located under the ICE tent on the Western Financial Place concourse or at the ICE Gear Store.

The ICE Education Fund proudly supports the post-secondary education of current and former players. Since 2008, the ICE Education Fund has supported 72 players who have attended post-secondary schools.

The ICE Education Fund is 100% funded by the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club and the generous donations of fans, corporate sponsors and businesses.

In addition, a number of teachers from Mount Baker Secondary School will be in attendance for our Teacher Appreciation. These teachers play a pivotal role in the development of ICE players and many other kids in the Cranbrook area.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game can be purchased online at ICEcountry.ca, at the ICE Gear Store at Western Financial Place or by calling 250-417-0322.

Don’t miss the ICE’s home game against the Tri-City Americans on Friday, February 16. The Kootenay ICE will be making a special presentation to the Canadian Mental Health Association that night. If a sell out is achieved, the ICE will add an additional $25,000 to the planned presentation.
