Water utility crews with City of Cranbrook Public Works have shut down water service to customers in the vicinity of 7th Street South and 16th Avenue South Friday for the repair of a broken water main.

Crews are on scene and beginning the excavation of the break. It is expected water services to nearby residents will be off for most of the day until the repair is completed.

Drivers who may be travelling in and out of that area, please slow down and watch for any signage or barricades and please follow the directions of any staff on site for the duration of the repair work.

As with any work around water services, it is normal for those affected to find some dirty water once water service is restored. To clear the lines, please simply run your cold water tap until the water runs clear.
