About Resort Municipality Initiative funding in Fernie

1. Fernie is receiving $303,127 from the Province of British Columbia to support its growing tourism industry that is seeing more and more tourists frequent the Elk Valley.
2. Since 2009, over $3 million has been invested in Fernie to support improvements to infrastructure like trails, boat lunch reconstruction, and a winter ski shuttle.
3. These investments ensure the Kootenay’s remain a top destination for visitors as well as support jobs tied to B.C.’s growing tourism industry, which saw international visitors increase by 12.4% in the first six months of 2016.
