B.C.’s COVID-19 update for February 23
B.C. is reporting 799 new cases of COVID-19 today, for a total of 346,196 cases in the province.
The new cases include:
* Interior Health: 280
* Fraser Health: 109
* Vancouver Coastal Health: 52
* Northern Health: 214
* Island Health: 140
Note: 97 cases reported in Northern Health as new today are due to data corrections for historical cases reported between April 2021 and February 2022.
There are 653 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., and 108 are in intensive care.
In the past 24 hours, one new death (Northern Health) has been reported, for a total of 2,831.
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreaks at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and Chemainus Health Care Centre (Island Health) have been declared over, for a total of 29 facilities with ongoing outbreaks.
As of Wednesday, Feb. 23, 90.5% (4,513,284) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.0% (4,284,366) have received their second dose.
In addition, 93.2% (4,320,374) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.6% (4,201,165) have received their second dose, and 55.0% (2,549,270) have received a third dose.
Also, 93.6% (4,046,424) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 91.1% (3,939,165) have received their second dose, and 57.1% (2,470,565) have received a third dose.
From Feb. 15-21, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 20.4% of cases and from Feb. 8-21 they accounted for 32.8% of hospitalizations.

* Partially vaccinated: 24 (4.8%)
* Fully vaccinated: 339 (67.2%)
Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Feb. 15-21)
* Not vaccinated: 160.0
* Partially vaccinated: 52.7
* Fully vaccinated: 66.8
Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Feb. 8-21)
* Not vaccinated: 40.3
* Partially vaccinated: 21.4
* Fully vaccinated: 7.2
Since December 2020, the province has administered 11,290,330 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines.
