Candidate out, says refused from election

Kootenay-Columbia Libertarian Party candidate Terry Tiessen announced this afternoon on Facebook that he has been ā€œrefusedā€ a shot at running in the Oct. 21 federal election.

ā€œIt is with a sad optimism that I am announcing my refusal from this election. The nomination package came up just a little short. I firmly believe in the Libertarian Party of Canada and its platform and will be working diligently to build and strengthen the Party and the Libertarian ideal, which is much needed in Canadian politics at this time,ā€ Tiessen stated.

ā€œThank you to all who supported me and I look forward to continuing the political conversations I have started in this district in the coming years.

ā€œI personally believe that there is enough of a cross platform compatibility, that I am giving my endorsement in this particular election to the PPC (Peoplesā€™ Party of Canada) candidate Rick Stewart,ā€ he concluded.
