COTR returning to on-campus learning this fall

Paul Vogt

Planning underway to offer face-to-face learning for fall 2021 semester

College of the Rockies is preparing to welcome students back to its campuses for fall 2021, following recent direction from British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer.

“Yesterday, Dr. Bonnie Henry issued a new direction to all B.C. post-secondary institutions to return to safe, on-campus learning this fall,” said College of the Rockies President Paul Vogt. “This is welcome news.  Through the COVID period, 40% of our students have had some face-to-face learning on campus.  We are now planning for a full return to campus in September.”

The fall 2021 term will still look different from pre-COVID times, with continued safety precautions like daily self-checks, mandatory masks, and quarantine requirements following international travel.  But Vogt is confident that with these measures, the College can ensure a safe return to in-class learning.

“Our students and employees have shown their resilience over the past year,” he said, “but it has been challenging for everyone.  We’ll look forward to offering a full student experience, which includes that personal connection to peers and instructors.”

The college will continue to work with Dr. Henry and the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training, to identify and manage risk factors and ensure that the College is ready to safely welcome students back to its campuses in September.

Applications for the fall semester are currently being accepted. The online application form, and regular updates about the fall semester, can be found on the college’s website: cotr.ca.
