EKISC introduces new E&C manager

On behalf of the team at East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKISC) I would like to introduce you to our new Education and Communications (E&C) Manager, Megan MacPhee.

Megan and I are in the beginning stages of training to give her the best opportunity for success in her new position. Over the next couple weeks, I will be transitioning out of the E&C Manager role as Megan takes over; to make the transition as smooth as possible I will still respond to emails related to current projects while keeping Megan in the loop of what’s happening with those projects.

She will take the lead on all projects in the coming weeks. Likewise, for future projects, please contact Megan directly.

Megan recently made the move from the West Kootenay to the East Kootenay, setting her roots down in Kimberley.

She is a passionate environmentalist, with extensive knowledge of our natural world, and great admiration for our recreational one. The love of the wild came at a young age and only increased over years of work in the environmental field.

She has a Recreation, Fish and Wildlife technical diploma, and a Bachelors of GIS which she has used for nearly a decade, working with parks, fisheries, forestry, geology, and recreational tourism.

Every one of these positions worked adjacent to invasive species which is what sparked the interest in protecting our landscapes. She is creatively inspired by our wild spaces and aims to bring invasive data to life and put it on everyone’s radar with community outreach, engagement, and education.

She is a hobby photographer, bird nerd, canoeist and gardener with her husband Jacob, and pup Soda Pop. She is excited to take on this new education and communication role to blend her passions of community, recreation, and conservation.

Please reach out and say hi! Megan is eager to start making connections in the invasive world.
