Fernie and Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it to host Reconciliation Walk

On Canada Day, the City of Fernie will welcome members of the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it to gather at City Hall in prayer and ceremony.

We ask that you show your support for the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡI ‘it by being socially distanced along the route as we walk through town.

The ceremony will take place at 10 am on City Hall grounds. However, due to COVID-19 health protocols the ceremony is by registration only and is at capacity. Please do not gather at City Hall, but be spaced along the walking route along both 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue.

The ceremony will be available for viewing at www.fernie.ca at a later date.

The walking route starts at City Hall and will proceed down 5th Street to 2nd Avenue, down 2nd Avenue to 8th Street, down 8th Street to 3rd Avenue, and down 3rd Avenue to City Hall.

Orange t shirts will be for sale by the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡI ‘it after the walk at City Hall grounds. For more information on the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it.
