Final RDEK election results released
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) today issued the Declaration of Official Election Results for Electoral Areas A, E and G in the 2022 general election.
Chief Election Officer Tina Hlushak declared Thomas McDonald (Area A), Jane Walter (Area E) and Roberta Schnider (Area G) received the highest number of valid votes.
McDonald, a resident of Koocanusa West, received 245 votes, while Lee-Ann Walker earned 228 votes, with Hungry Baytaluke pulling down 20 votes.
McDonald replaces five-term director Mike Sosnowski.
Walter of St. Mary Lake Road was re-elected for a third time on the strength of 191 votes. Challenger Nowell Berg of Wasa received 154 votes.
And Schnider, an Edgewater resident, replaces outgoing five-term director Gerry Wilkie on the strength of 202 votes, ahead of challenger Stephanie Steven’s 93.
Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay and Electoral Area F Director Susan Clovechok were acclaimed.
