Friday Highways Report for the East Kootenay

Friday Highways Report for the East Kootenay is a snapshot to give the travelling public a glimpse of what they may be heading into or out of this weekend.

On the eastern side of the Rockies, it’s looking like a heaping helping of Old Man Winter.

In the East Kootenay we’re expecting snow and cold between March 13 and 14.

A look at DriveBC cameras shows a variety of conditions at time of publication (12:15 p.m., Friday, March 13), so be prepared for anything.

Highway 43

Sparwood to Elkford

Highway 3

Sparwood to B.C. and Alberta Border

Fernie to Elko

Bridge construction at Lizard Creek Bridge (three km west of Fernie) is in winter shutdown – temporary detour in effect seven days a week with no expected delays. Slow down and obey all traffic signs.

Highway 3/93

Elko to Cranbrook

Highway 93

Radium Hot Springs to Alberta Border

Watch for slippery sections. Compact snow.

Culvert liner installation near Radium Hot Pools, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through March 31. Expect speed reductions to 50 km/h in work zone. No work on long weekends or statutory holidays.

Montana border to Highway 3

Highway 95
