Genealogy workshops coming to Sparwood and Radium
The Sparwood Public Library and Radium Hot Springs Public Library will be hosting workshops on April 5 and 9 designed to teach genealogy enthusiasts how to transform their personal and family histories into stories that appeal to a wide audience.
The workshops are being led by Kootenay journalist and author Vanessa Farnsworth, whose historical novel, The Haweaters, details the brutal 19th Century murders of two members of her family on northern Ontario’s Manitoulin Island. The Haweaters was shortlisted for the 2021 Fred Kerner Book Award.
The workshops are is sponsored by the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and the Columbia Basin Trust. Admission is free.
The Sparwood workshop is Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at Sparwood Public Library.
Radium Hot Springs Public Library is a workshop on April 9 at 10:15 a.m.
