Helping your home become a calmer place

By Marsha Burrows

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by your home? Is the paperwork keeping you up at night? That doesn’t have to be your reality.

Cranbrook and the surrounding areas have a new business to help you declutter and organize your home so that you can focus on the things that are actually important.

Since the spring of 2022, many local residents have benefited from Feel Better Organizing’s services. One client said, “My whole apartment feels so much better and more spacious. I most definitely recommend her to anyone needing a bit of a declutter!”

I am Marsha, owner of Feel Better Organizing, and I know that when people live in calm and relaxed spaces, they feel better.

Many years ago, I had a hard time maintaining my house. It felt like I was always losing my keys, I had mountains of dishes and I never knew what to do with the constant flow of paper that made its way into my house.

It had a negative effect on me on a regular basis. Studies have shown that mental health struggles can be intensified by clutter as people are affected by their environment. I learned about various techniques to change the way I took care of my home and I became very passionate about organizing.

Next, I got certified through Cassandra Aarssen from Clutterbug, host of HGTV’s Hot Mess House, and now I help others get out of the same situation I was in.

Here are a few tips to help with starting or continuing your organizing journey.

  • Before organizing, most people need to declutter.
  • It is possible to declutter without making an even bigger mess.
  • Just like people are unique, there are four unique organizing styles.
  • Paper doesn’t have to be difficult or stressful with five specific categories.
  • Five minutes of work can make a big impact on your journey to an organized home.
  • Keeping a constant donation box in your house can make a big difference.
