July in the East Kootenay

In the midst of winter I dream about July in the East Kootenay.

I dream about forests thick with fresh tree and leaf stink. I dream of cool streams wrapping around my legs and fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden.

Then July arrives and it is a struggle to get into the woods, find time in a stream or even properly tend to the garden. Such is life for always-busy East Kootenay residents.

All we can do is our best; get out when we can; seize a spare moment or two.

This month’s collection of images of life as it happens in the East Kootenay was cobbled together (yuk yuk) during trips to Elkford  for Wildcat Days and the Elk Valley, around Cranbrook and Fort Steele, Kimberley, Kootenay Trout Hatchery and some shots from our first foray into South Star Recreation Area, a short hop from our Gold Creek home.
