June in the East Kootenay

With the days the longest they can be in a year, and with the high country accessible and glorious, life in the East Kootenay gets no finer than in June.

Green returns, the creeks and rivers rush, hot spells strike and cold spells keep us wondering what kind of summer we’ll get.

So far it is one without much forest fire activity, which in this day and age is a damned good thing.

Without even really trying to, the photo collection just appeared it seems this June. We got out more than usual and were blessed with some lovely days when we did get out. That said, we had bad luck with decent shooting conditions on ventures into the Columbia Valley and Elk Valley. July is proving much better!

This month’s photo collection consists of images from: Cranbrook and area, including the Cranbrook History Centre (Railway museum), Cranbrook & District Arts Council gallery on Baker Street, Studio Stage Door, Elizabeth Lake Lodge/Elizabeth Lake and St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino/?aqam; Kimberley and area, including Cherry Creek Falls Park.
