Let’s move ahead with a spirit of unity

Letter to the Editor

As we end the election cycle, let’s celebrate our common hopes and desires. Underneath it all, I believe we all want a better world for our children and grandchildren. We are fortunate we live in the most amazing riding in the most amazing country in the world. We have so much.

Is there more work to do? Absolutely. Will we agree on everything as we move forward? Of course not. I firmly believe, however, with respectful, productive dialogue, a positive attitude and a lot of hard work, we can move forward for the best for our Kootenay-Columbia.

This election cycle has been filled with division and fear-mongering. Yet, for the sixth consecutive year, Canada ranks number one overall for providing a good quality of life. We’re number one for social purpose (that’s human rights, climate goals, social justice and more). Canada ranks #1 for having a good job market. In fact, Canada is rated in the top 10 in all but one of the nine attributes. This is worth celebrating!

Let’s move ahead with a spirit of unity and make the best future for our kids in the Kootenays.

I thank everyone who has contributed to my campaign, for the thousands of emails and social media interactions. And thank you to my intrepid Team Robin who, in spite of the vitriol, have emerged positive, hopeful and resilient. You can take down our signs, and these volunteers will keep putting them back up.

A special, big thank you to e-KNOW for allowing open debate on the election in your letters to the editor. I appreciate the forum for candid, grassroots discussion.

Please get out and vote on Monday, and my best regards,

Robin Goldsbury,

Liberal Party Candidate for Kootenay-Columbia
