Local KIJHL clubs face busy week

The Kimberley Dynamiters remain the class of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) approaching this weekend’s busy schedule.

The Nitros remain well ensconced atop the Eddie Mountain Division and Kootenay Conference standings, with a 28 win, six loss, one tie and one overtime loss record, with the red hot Creston Valley Thunder Cats chasing in second, seven points back.

Columbia Valley Rockies are alone in third place in the Eddie Mountain Division and sixth in the Kootenay Conference, with a 16-15-3-3 record.

Fernie Ghostriders are in fourth place with a 9-21-1-3 record, 16 points shy of the Rockies.

The Ghostriders are in Spokane tonight and tomorrow night (Jan. 19) to take on the Braves at the Eagles Ice-A-Rena. The club is searching for a way out of an eight game losing streak.

The Kimberley Dynamiters take on the Columbia Valley Rockies at Invermere’s Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena Friday, Jan. 19 (game time 7:30 p.m.)

Golden Rockets and Creston Valley Thunder Cats face-off Friday at 7 p.m. at Creston’s Johnny Bucyck Arena.

The Dynamiters head to Creston Saturday (Jan. 20) for a tilt against the Cats, while the Rockies head north to Golden for a 7:30 p.m. game against the struggling Rockets.

The Ghostriders head to Castlegar for a 7 p.m. (Pacific) clash with the Rebels.

The Riders and Rockies are also facing off on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in Invermere (7:30 p.m. game time).
