Lumberton Road repair work begins Monday

Lumberton Road base repairs are scheduled Monday, Sept 27 through October 1.

Drivers can expect delays while crews perform maintenance between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. (daily).

Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting crews will be replacing failed road base at various locations on Lumberton Road and in addition, re-surfacing the road base using surface crush gravel and applying base stabilization chemicals.

“The identified areas are problematic especially in high water periods, and by performing these repairs now we can ensure proper Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure (MOTI) spec materials are used in the road construction,” Mainroad noted in a stakeholder update.

Restrictions on heavy traffic will be necessary while work is ongoing to ensure safety of road users and our crews.

“We recognize that this work will cause some unavoidable inconvenience.  Please know that we are working together with MOTI to continue monitoring this stretch of road while conducting repairs on prioritized locations,” Mainroad stated.

Thank you for your patience as we perform this work and feel free to report any feedback through Mainroad’s 24-hour public information hotline at 1 800-665-4929.

As always, please drive with caution, slow down, watch for roadside crews and check www.drivebc.ca for updates.
