Mid-winter storm is here; drive carefully

A mid-winter storm; definitely.

Highway 3 at Hosmer. DrivebC

If you are driving in the Rockies or Purcells of B.C. right now, conditions are, region-wide, winter-like  – so please drive accordingly (slow down and arrive alive).

All roads leading into B.C., and through at this point, are experiencing winter conditions, at the minimum. Expect rapid changes in road conditions with elevation.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in effect for the Elk Valley.

Radium Junction

An active weather system off the B.C. coast will give a prolonged period of snow to much of southeastern B.C. Periods of snow will continue from tonight through Sunday afternoon giving total amounts from 25 to 35 cm. The highest amounts are expected over Rogers and Kootenay passes as well as Elk Valley.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
