NDP select Kallee Lins as CKSR candidate

Members of the Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies (CKSR) NDP came together this past weekend and voted for Kallee Lins to be the official candidate for the upcoming federal election.

Lins (pictured right above) works as the Executive Director of the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council and has long been an advocate for non-profits and community organizations.

“Kallee has dedicated her life to being a champion of change for workers and when she’s elected to office, I know she’ll be the fighter they need,” said NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. “She believes that our government needs to do more to help all Canadians – not just the rich.”

Lins played a vital role in creating the Canadian Emergency Business Account and Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy that helped workers make ends meet during the pandemic, and has also supported cultural policy development during her time with the Canadian Dance Assembly’s advocacy committee.

“Canadians believe in taking care of each other, and the government can do so much more can help improve the lives of all Canadians. We can build the homes we need for the next generation, we can create more good jobs in sustainable energy, and we can lower costs so that workers won’t have so much stress about having enough money to cover the rent and bills,” said Lins.

“But that’s not possible with the Conservatives, and that’s because they would rather help corporations and make you pay for it. People in Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies are ready for that to change. They are ready for a NDP government.”
