Operation Christmas Child now collecting

Operation Christmas Child is once again collecting gift shoeboxes for distribution to those in need around the globe – with collection running until November 18.

Run by Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child provides an opportunity for people to pack a shoebox with little things like toothbrushes, combs, toys, socks, etc. And once your shoebox is packed, those giving are asked to add $7 to the box for shipping overseas.

“If you aren’t able to add the money then we do have donations that come in just for that. These shoeboxes will be sent to Third World countries and sometimes this is a child’s first gift ever. Last year we were able to bring in over 2,500 boxes in the Kootenays and are always aiming to beat that number,” said Pamela Berry, OCC Coordinator Kootenays.
