RDEK development fee changes take effect July 1
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) is reminding residents, builders, and developers that selected development application fee changes will take effect on July 1.
The updated fee schedule is set out in the Regional District’s Development Applications Bylaw fee schedule, which identifies the fees that change on that date.
Anyone preparing to submit an application is encouraged to review the updated fee schedule in advance to confirm the fee that will apply to their project. The changes affect selected application types, including some development variance permits, certain development permit-related fees, subdivision referral fees, and other planning-related applications.
“If you’re getting ready to submit an application, now is a great time to take a quick look at the updated fee schedule so you know what to expect,” Karen MacLeod, Planning Manager.
“We want to help applicants plan ahead, understand which fees apply to their project, and avoid any surprises during the application process.”
The RDEK encourages applicants to verify fees before sending in materials, particularly if they are planning a subdivision, development permit, variance permit, or another planning-related application.
The fee schedule includes July 1 changes for several categories, including Development Variance Permits, amendments to issued Development Permits, Housing Agreement and Bylaw applications, Site Specific Floodplain Exemptions, Strata Conversions, subdivision referrals, and liquor or cannabis licence referrals.
Applicants who are unsure which application type or fee applies to their project are encouraged to contact RDEK Planning staff at [email protected] or 250-489-2791 for assistance.
