SAR crews deliver evacuation notices

Members of the Cranbrook Search and Rescue and Kimberley Search and Rescue (SAR) units yesterday capably handled the complex and vital task of delivering evacuation order and alert notices to residents near the Plumbob Mountain wildfire.

“Initial response connected with RCMP and were able to get to all four properties before having to clear the area for their own safety. Kimberley SAR was called for assistance,” Cranbrook SAR reported on social media.

Both teams were out late handing out evacuation alerts in the Newgate area.

As of 2:30 a.m. all assignments had been completed and operations were shutting down for the night.

“Teams are going home to get some much needed rest. We will be ready to go if needed,” SAR stated.
