SD5 Board Notes

The following is a summary of motions carried May 11, via Zoom, during the School District No. 5 (SD5) School Board of Trustees’ meeting.

Please note that there were no motions carried at the April 2021 Board meeting, as committee meetings are not held in March (due to spring break) and we had no emergent motions arise.

Motions Carried

Advocacy

That the Board writes a general letter in support of the need for child care in Elkford.

That the Board sends the BCSTA letters written to various ministries to the appropriate committees or to district personnel for further discussion. [As per the list in the Board meeting agenda.]

That the Board sends a letter to BCSTA in support of their recommendations to the B.C. Government for increased school life cycle funding.

Policy

That the Board of Education’s position and response to the Child Care Policy be referred to and discussed at the next public Board meeting.

Finance/Operations/Personnel

That the Board approves the draft 2021-22 Board and Committee meeting dates attached to the agenda. Meeting locations in schools will be considered once the Public Health Officer’s COVID-19 protocols allow.

General

That the Board refers the documentation and question from Heather Halliday’s presentation to Superintendent Yardley.
