Selkirk signs on as Gran Fondo title sponsor

The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo organizing committee is pleased to announce a new partnership with Selkirk Signs Ltd.

Selkirk has signed on as the new title partner for the event for 2020 to 2022.

Selkirk signs has offices in B.C. and Alberta and a workforce of nearly 100 employees. The opportunity arose for Selkirk to take on the title sponsorship and they were excited to do so. This is a way for Selkirk to give back to the community while at the same time promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo is a project of the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club. It is a participation cycling event that offers something for every level of enthusiast. It is the main fundraiser for the club, while at the same time attracting visitors and tourism dollars to the Kootenays.

The 2020 ride taking place on Saturday, September 12 will be the seventh annual version of the event. Riders have come from as far away as Britain, Ontario and even Tennessee, but the bulk of the riders come from B.C. and Alberta.

Sponsorship plays an important role in the Gran Fondo and contributes greatly to the funds raised. The Gran Fondo this year shared over $5,500 with their partner service clubs and organizations, including the Kimberley and Cranbrook Rotary Clubs, the Mark Creek and Wasa Lions Clubs, the EK SPCA, Mount Baker Sports, Speed Watch, Kimberley Volunteer Ski Patrol and the NorthStar Rails-to-Trails.

In addition, the Sunrise Rotary Club uses proceeds to support the local We Bike program in Cranbrook and Kimberley Schools, current upgrades at the ALCO Train Engine site in downtown Cranbrook, various international education and health projects as well as various local and international youth programs.
