Severe Thunderstorm Watch for north region and Creston

Environment Canada has today (July 2) issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Columbia Valley up to Golden, including Kootenay and Yoho national parks and the Creston area.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, Environment Canada stated.

Local utility outages are possible. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
