Shipping and logistics analysis underway; info sought

Columbia Basin Trust (Trust) is undertaking a Regional Shipping and Logistics Analysis to assess regional logistics infrastructure and services and explore options for improvements in the Columbia Basin.

A consulting team, led by Philip Davies of Davies Transportation Consulting Inc., has been engaged by the Trust to conduct the study. Other members of the consulting team include Darryl Anderson of Wave Point Consulting Ltd. and Steve Hayto of S5 Services.

“The success of this project will depend on the input and participation of the many stakeholders affected by this major issue. Your cooperation in helping us carry out this work will enable us to make this project a success,” said Philip Davies.

The scope of the project includes analysis of the shipping and logistics infrastructure in the Basin; identification of constraints and challenges to efficient operations; and assessment of impacts. The study will also provide recommendations on potential actions and the role of the Trust in improving regional logistics to enhance business growth and investment in the region.

“As part of the study, we are reaching out to stakeholders with an interest in regional shipping and logistics to gather information on the current state of infrastructure and services, regional issues and potential solutions. From commercial stakeholders, we are seeking information on current transportation-related activities, challenges in freight transportation within the region, and opportunities to improve economic efficiency and service quality,” Davies explained.

In addition to your own organization’s response, other residents and readers may be interested in participating in a short on-line survey.

The survey will close on February 20.
