Snowfall warning for Kootenay National Park

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning in effect for the Kootenay and Yoho National Park areas.

A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 30 cm is expected.

“A weather system will bring heavy snow to the Yoho Park – Kootenay Park region. Snow will begin tonight, with about 10 cm snow expected during the day Monday and another 15 cm for Monday night. Snow will taper off on Tuesday with total amount of over 30 cm expected,” Environment Canada stated.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Heavy snowfall accumulation may cause tree branches to break.”
