Traffic moving again on Highway 3

Delays up to six hours at Kootenay Bay ferry terminal

Traffic is once again moving on Highway 3 through Kootenay Pass (pictured right), though it is moving slowly.

DriveBC reports that the highway is open to single lane alternating traffic 30 km west of Creston due to a mudslide.

Drivers can expect up to 20 minute delays as clean up remains in progress.

Because of the pass closure, and a coinciding ferry service ā€˜interruptionā€™ the line ups at the Kootenay Bay ferry terminal have been described as ā€œepicā€ among other things.

However, BC Ferries reports there are no sailing waits at the Balfour terminal, though Kootenay Bay terminal is currently experiencing a six hour delay and long lines.

The Osprey 2000 will continue service until all queues have been cleared.
