More snow on the way for Christmas in EK

Radium Junction

It looks like we will be seeing steady light snow for the next 24-36 hours throughout the East Kootenay.

Temperatures are expected to be in the -5C to -10C range most areas. There will also be periods of limited visibility due to blowing snow and low cloud, reported Mainroad East Kootenay this morning (Dec. 23).

Forecasts are for accumulations of eight to 10 cm over the next 24 to 36 hours, but the potential exists for greater amounts of snow.

Environment Canada also forecasts snow and cloud over the next two days with some clearing on Christmas day and even more sunshine on Boxing Day.

Mainroad crews will be out on the road over the holiday break plowing and sanding as required.
Motorists should leave extra time to get to their destination, be prepared for winter driving conditions throughout and be aware of increased traffic volumes over the next few days.
