The City of Fernie has issued a reminder to anyone using the Elk River to be aware of log jams.

“There is a large log jam between Hosmer and Fernie that is not safe to pass. Emergency crews were required to rescue stranded individuals from the log jam over the weekend. Please adhere to the signage in the area and do not attempt to travel this section of the river,” the city noted on social media August 6.
