Head-on collision near Alberta border
Elk Valley RCMP is investigating a two-vehicle accident that occurred on October 20 around 1:30 p.m.
Two individuals sustained injuries and were attended by Emergency Health Services (EHS). The individuals were then transported to hospital in Alberta where they were eventually released. The cause of investigation still ongoing.
Weather does not seem to be a factor in this case. The highway was shut down for approximately one hour while EHS and Sparwood Fire Department attended to the scene.
Two injured in motorcycle/deer collision on Kikomun Newgate Road
What started off as an abandoned 911 call to Elk Valley RCMP soon turned into a single motor vehicle accident on October 20, around 5 p.m. Two people were injured and taken to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook with non-life threatening injuries by Emergency Health Services. The individuals were travelling on a Suzuki motorcycle. The deer was deceased.
Elk Valley RCMP would like to thank those individuals from the public who stopped and assisted at the scene.
Theft of copper in Sparwood
Over the weekend of September 19-21 there was a theft of a substantial amount of scrap copper from Martech Motor Winding located in Sparwood. Thieves gained entry in to the building and surrounding outbuildings by cutting the pad locks and breaking a glass window.
