Elkford Mayor warns speeders best slow down

District of Elkford Mayor Dean McKerracher has released another update video. However, he does not address the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as he has in previous video messages to the community.

He focusses on the good news of funding announced for trail networking in the district, wishes Elkford Secondary School graduates all the best and updates paving project news.

And he closes with something “very disturbing. I’m tired of hearing from our citizens and from our council about speeders in town. Cars, trucks, side-by-sides, dirt bikes and big motorcycles. Just because you have noisy machines doesn’t mean you need to speed to make them sound wonderful; they sound wonderful as they are.”

Mayor McKerracher warns speeders may be photographed and receive tickets in the mail.

“I know you don’t like it, but you know what? If you don’t slow down, we’ve got to do something. You need to slow down in our community. We have a lot of young children on our streets – especially now.”
