Elkford Secondary presents first musical Seussical Jr.

Elkford Secondary School is proud to announce its first musical theatre production, Seussical Jr., featuring talented students from Grades 6 through 12.

This exciting, family-friendly show will take the stage for three performances:

May 1 at 6:30 p.m.

May 2 at 2:30 p.m.

May 2 at 6:30 p.m.

This is a production led by the Grade 9-12 Musical Theatre class, who step into roles of both lead cast and crew, setting the stage to showcase the creativity, leadership, and dedication of Elkford’s young creatives. The show also features ensemble performers from Rocky Mountain Elementary, making it a collaboration that spans across grade levels.

Directed by Elkford Secondary’s music teacher, Clara MacLeod, Seussical Jr. brings to life the whimsical and beloved world of Dr. Seuss. Audiences will be delighted by iconic characters such as The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie LaBird, and JoJo the Who.

This enchanting musical follows Horton, a kind-hearted elephant who discovers a tiny speck of dust containing the entire world of Whoville. As Horton strives to protect the Whos and care for an abandoned egg, he faces ridicule and disbelief from the other animals in the Jungle of Nool. With unwavering support from his loyal friend Gertrude McFuzz, Horton’s journey becomes a heartwarming story of friendship, loyalty, and courage.

Seussical Jr. weaves together themes of individuality, perseverance, and the importance of standing up for what you believe in. Filled with vibrant characters, memorable music, and uplifting messages, this production promises to entertain audiences of all ages.
