Elkford Trails Alliance fifth recipient of $10,000 from EKC

Congratulations to the Elkford Trails Alliance, the final recipient of $10,000 from East Kootenay Community Credit Union’s (EKC) $50,000 Legacy Campaign as the last part of its 70 Year $115,000 Celebration!

EKC’s Board of Directors initiated the celebration in honour of its 70th Anniversary. Its purpose is to continue support for strong, local communities and support community groups who have felt the impact of COVID-19.

The Elkford Trails Alliance will receive $10,000 for their Winter Trails Project, including a permanent storage unit for their single-track groomer – the Snowdog, and related equipment for trail maintenance. The trails require maintenance in the summer season, and annual trail maintenance days are being organized so the trails will be ready for each of the upcoming seasons.

As more non‐motorized trails are established, the scope of trail maintenance and grooming in Elkford will continue to grow, thus embracing the growing culture of our healthy outdoor lifestyle.

The Elkford Trails Alliance hopes to get more users exploring Elkford year-round and foster the community’s “get intimate with nature” lifestyle.
