Three impaired drivers nabbed in Elkford

On June 3, Elk Valley RCMP officers had their hands full with three separate motor vehicle collisions, resulting with two male drivers receiving a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) along with a 30-day vehicle impoundment.

The other male driver was handed a 90-day IRP for refusal to provide breath sample and his vehicle too was impounded for 30 days.

On June 3, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Elk Valley RCMP first responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a retaining wall on Alpine Drive in Elkford.

A witness stated that a male and a female were outside of their vehicle described as a white BMW and were awaiting help from someone to arrive.

Simultaneously, a second collision report came in of an overturned blue Mitsubishi on Alpine Way, just down the road from the first collision. Also on scene was a pickup truck trying to roll the flipped blue Mitsubishi over (pictured above).

When police arrived at both scenes, all individuals appeared under the influence of alcohol and all were detained for impaired driving investigations.

The intoxicated male from the first collision identified himself as the driver and owner of the white BMW.  He was given a 90-day IRP along with a 30-day vehicle impoundment.

“No one was injured just property damage to the retaining wall,” reported Cst. Debra Katerenchuk of Elk Valley RCMP.

A witness to the second collision advised the RCMP that he had heard a loud screech and a crash.

When RCMP arrived, a blue Mitsubishi Lancer was on its roof at the bottom of the hill.  Next to it was a Ford pickup truck attempting to roll the Lancer onto its wheels.

Police further investigated the collision that resulted with the arrest of the driver of the Lancer and the driver of the Ford truck for impaired driving.

Both men were handed a 90-day IRP along with their vehicles impounded for 30 days.  The male driver of the Ford truck refused to provide a breath sample that netted him the IRP.

There were no personal injuries or property damaged.
