Join in at the Coal Creek Barn Sunday, May 22 in Fernie to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Canada’s third most fatal mine disaster.

The schedule includes a presentation about the tragic events of May 22, 1902, by mining historian John Kinnear at 1 p.m., with a selection of images of the Coal Creek Mine and community, which thrived into the 1960s.

From 1:30 p.m., enjoy live music from The Audielles and activities for children, with a chance to meet the barn animals hosted by Fernie Therapeutic Horse and Pony Club and Coal Creek Heritage.

Guests are welcome to arrive from noon, and there will be a burger barbecue by donation, hosted by The Fernie Hotel.

Please be prepared for all weather. Limited picnic tables are available, lawn chairs are welcome.
