Arrest for dangerous driving Halloween eve

On October 31, at approximately 6 p.m., Elk Valley RCMP received several 9-1-1 reports of a blue sedan speeding and being driven unsafely in the Ridgemont area of Fernie.

These calls were of concern to police as numerous young children and parents were participating in a nearby annual Halloween event.

Elk Valley RCMP officers quickly located the suspect vehicle. It had been parked and the driver was gone. Police obtained information from witnesses that determined  the vehicle had been driven in a dangerous manner. The driver was subsequently located, arrested for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle under the Criminal Code. The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days under the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act.

The driver is facing one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will appear in Fernie Provincial Court at a later date.
