City appoints new senior staff
The City of Fernie today announced the appointment of two senior management positions to support ongoing work in community development and asset management.

Marta Proctor will take on the Director of Community Services position and play a lead role in structuring the new department to support the city’s focus on community assets. Proctor brings a wealth of municipal experience to the role, including spending the past four years as the Director of Communications, Culture, and Recreation in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
“The Director of Community Services is a key position that will help the city to build a more sustainable model of community development and asset management which has been in the works for some time,” explained CAO Norm McInnis. “We are thrilled to have Proctor joining our team to lead this transition and are confident that this community focused approach will be a real asset to Fernie.”
In addition, a newly-created position of Parks and Facilities Manager within the Operations Department will be filled by Brett Logan, who will be joining the city from his current position as Operations Foreman for Armstrong/Spallumcheen Parks and Recreation.
“Logan is very qualified for this role and the new position dedicated to the maintenance of our facilities and parks is going to greatly streamline our operations,” said McInnis.
Logan will join the city on May 21, and Proctor will begin June 4. The city’s transition to a new Community Services department focusing on asset management, building community capacity and community engagement will continue over the next several months.
