Elk Valley RCMP searching for dine and dashers

Elk Valley RCMP is looking to advise the public and request assistance in identifying two suspects from a “dine and dash” at the Northern Bar and Stage in Fernie, which occurred on May 1.

One suspect is described as a Caucasian man with a bald head and tattoos, along with a female suspect described as a Caucasian woman with purple highlights in her hair.

The couple reportedly entered the pub that evening to celebrate their engagement. After being welcomed by the establishment, who provided some free drinks to the happy couple to acknowledge their “new engagement,” they rang up a bill of approximately $130 with food and other beverages.

After going outside for a smoke break, the couple fled. The establishment then advised RCMP at a later date.

Since this incident was reported, the couple has also been allegedly involved with at least three other dine and dash events in the Fernie area. There have also been some concerns brought forward by area hotels regarding the two persons fraudulently obtaining lodging in the Fernie area as well.

“Elk Valley RCMP is releasing the photo of the two suspects to make area businesses aware of their appearance and actions to stop further offences. RCMP are likely to gather more files against the two persons in the photo after this media release due to ongoing criminal behaviours. Elk Valley RCMP asks the public to not approach the two suspects directly, just to report their actions to police,” said S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen.

Anyone with information, can contact the Elk Valley RCMP at 250-425-6233 to speak with an officer, or report their information anonymously using BC Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). Please advise the call taker that your information involves the dine and dash suspects located in Fernie.
