Family Programming   

Storytime (Ages three to five years) Tuesdays 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Stories, singing and activities for preschoolers and their caregivers.

Toddlertime (Ages up to two years) Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15-11:45 a.m.

Singing, simple stories and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers.

Weekend Family Storytime: Saturday, February 17, 1-1:30 p.m.

Family Early Years Hub, Tuesdays 1-3 p.m.

Are you new to town, a new grandparent or someone who wants to know more about what Fernie offers for families with children up to the ages of five years?  Join Jodie Parker (Fernie Early Years Coordinator) for this weekly drop in, to find out more.

Children’s Activities for Grades 1-6  

Mondays 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. CRIBBAGE CLUB for ALL AGES

(Drop-In) at Trinity Lodge 1142-6th Ave.

The Fernie Heritage Library and Trinity Lodge invite you to a game of crib!  Find or bring a partner and challenge them to a few rounds. New to the game? Let’s learn together! This program is for adults, teens and children! Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver for this program held at the Trinity Lodge.

Tuesdays 3:45-5 p.m. BOOK TRAILER FILM CLUB – Ages 10-14.

Love to experiment with filmmaking and editing apps? At this self-directed film club we will be writing scripts and then creating and filming trailers of our favourite book. Participants must supply their own recording device (smart phone, camera, ipad etc.) with apps. This club will be self-directed with some general guidance and will end a Book Trailer Fest in March.

All participants must have a valid junior library membership and signed waiver to attend.

Wednesdays  3:45-5 p.m. LEGO CLUB (Registration required, ages seven and up) New challenge every week.  NEW Registration now OPEN by emailing [email protected].

Thursdays 3:45-5 p.m. KNITS AND KNOTS (Drop-in, ages eight and up)

For crafty kids who love to knit, crochet or want to learn! All materials and basic instruction is provided. Completed projects can be taken home!

FUN FRIDAY and SUPER SATURDAY Friday, February 16 and Saturday 17  3:30-5 p.m. Drop in for ages seven and up.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants: activities and movie viewing with popcorn! All participants must have a valid junior library membership and signed waiver to attend.

Adult Programming

Tea and Talk Book Club: Friday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m.

Copies of the current monthly book are available from the library.

Walkie Talkie Book Club: Wednesday, February 7 at 10 a.m. (Book: Bel Canto by Ann Patchett). An outdoor, walking book club. We will meet on the front steps of the library, walk along along the river path and chat as we go. Email [email protected] for further information.

Blind dates – who needs them? Sign up for a surprise book date and a dessert provided by Crumbs Bakery and Cafe. A night of conversation, sweets and a book you are guaranteed to go home with. Free event, PLEASE REGISTER via eventbrite by February 12.

Knit Clique

Drop-In Knitting, crocheting and any other yarny endeavour every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the upstairs reference library. BYO project. Please enter through the back entrance.

Ukulele 101 Thursday, February 22 from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. Music builds brain power! Register for this free, one-hour beginner workshop to playing the ukulele. You can borrow a ukulele from the library during the workshop and keep it for two weeks to practice your new skills. Email [email protected] for further information or to register. Limited spots available.

All-Ages Programming

I love LOCAL- DIY VALENTINE CARDS: Thurs, February 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Share the love and make a few Valentine’s Day cards for those in need of your kind words. The library will provide all the materials-you make the cards for those you love, for your family or sweetheart, your grocer, server, granddaughter, teacher, plumber or small business owner…whoever might needs words to share the love!
