Fernie Council Connection

The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the Jan. 9 City of Fernie council meeting.

1. AGREEMENTS, LICENCES PERMITS & POLICIES

Fernie City Hall Xmas1.1 Development Variance Permit Application No. DVPA-397 for 4 Cedar Bowl Drive  Council authorized the issuance of the permit to vary the minimum side yard setback for an existing accessory building only along a portion of the east property line.

1.2 Development Variance Permit Application No. DVPA -396 for 861 – 9th Avenue  Council authorized the issuance of the permit to vary the minimum rear yard setback for an existing accessory building only, proposed to be converted into a secondary detached dwelling unit, along a portion of the west property line.

2. BYLAWS

2.1 Bylaw No. 2303, cited as Zoning Bylaw No. 1750, Amendment Bylaw No. 184, 2016 was read a third time and referred to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for approval. The application submitted is to amend the Zoning Bylaw No. 1750 to permit a distillery at the location of The Royal Canadian Legion on 1st Avenue. Report to Council l Council Package

3. UPCOMING MEETINGS AND OTHER NEWS

3.1 Next scheduled meetings of council are:

Monday, January 23 – Committee of the Whole at 10 a.m. and regular meeting of council at 7 p.m. in council chambers.

Tuesday, February 14 – (Stat Holiday on the 13th) Committee of the Whole at 10 a.m. and the regular meeting of council at 7 p.m. in council chambers

3.2 Things to remember to do in January:

Renew your pet’s dog licence; renew your company’s (new Inter-Community Business Licence); make sure you know where you should park this winter to allow efficient plowing and not get towed!
