Fernie kicks off holiday season Dec. 2
The Fernie Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Fernie and The Arts Station are bringing you a fun-filled day Dec. 2 to kick-off the holiday season and get your shop-on, locally.
On Saturday, December 2 spend a minimum of $25 at a participating Fernie business and enter to win $1,000 to a #spenditinfernie participating business of your choice.
Each receipt (from December 2, minimum $25, at a participating business) can be entered into the draw.
The contest closes Saturday, December 2 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced Monday, December 4 at 2 p.m. (Must have receipts from December 2 to claim prize).
There is much more than shopping Dec. 2 in downtown Fernie.
The following is part of the day’s schedule (see #spenditinfernie for full information):
2 – 8 p.m. | The Fernie Arts Station Artisan Fair & New Mug Gallery Show featuring all our potters and all the mugs you could desire;
3:30 – 7:30 p.m. | Various Santa & Mrs. Claus will be visiting stores around town;
5 – 7:30 p.m. | 2nd Ave Carolers will be singing festive songs
5 – 8:30 p.m. | 2nd Ave Cycling Without Age will be assisting shoppers and carrying them + their shopping;
7:30 – 8 p.m. | Station Square Head to Station Square for hot cocoa (while supplies last), carolling and the announcement of the Holiday Window Contest winner.
8 p.m. – Fireworks.
Please note the following road closures for the Holiday Kickoff on Saturday, December 2.
6th Street between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue (including entrance to the alleyway and access to the Legion parking lot); Closed Saturday, December 2 from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
1st Avenue from 6th Street to 5th Street (Blue Toque to The Royal); Closed Saturday, December 2 from 5 to 9 p.m. after the fireworks.
Please advise your staff, tenants, and anyone else that may be affected by these closures. Any vehicles parked in the above-noted areas during the closures will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Christmas kick-off also continues after Dec. 2.
From Sunday, December 3 to Thursday, December 21, continue to shop local and enter to win a $100 gift card to a participating Fernie business.
Winners will be announced each Friday (December 8, 15 and 22) at 10 a.m.
*Minimum spend of $25 at a participating Fernie business, must have receipts to claim prize.
