Fernie set to celebrate 40th Griz Days festival

Time to get furry, gruff and fun; Fernie’s biggest party of the year is almost here.

The 40th annual Griz Days winter festival is this weekend, March 3-5, with events aplenty taking place in the city and at Fernie Alpine Resort.

A Friday, March 3 pub crawl gets things rolling, as will the Griz Stomp at the Fernie Community Centre at 6:30 p.m., with Saturday stuffed full of fun, including the annual parade at 5:30 p.m.

Topping the day’s sporting, adult and family fun events is Yukon Blonde, performing in concert in Station Square.

And get some fresh air on Sunday at Fernie Alpine Resort with the Dummy Downhill.

New this year is the 2nd Avenue FunFest and ParticipACTION 150 Playlist! On Saturday, head down to 2nd Ave. from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for a host of activities, including a wood carving display, face painting, a reading of the Fernie Fable by Keith Liggett, with an introduction by Angie Abdou (noon)
, a live chainsaw exhibition (1 p.m.)
and the Junior Griz Competition from 2 – 4 p.m.
