Fernie watching for localized flooding
The spring melt is well underway with unusually high temperatures and with the expectation of rains overnight and into tomorrow the City of Fernie has increased monitoring creek and stream levels in areas prone to localized flooding.
For residents concerned about flooding on their property, the city has provided a self-fill sandbag station at the Public Works Yards across from TJs Auto Body 1492 Railway Avenue. The station is signed; please bring your own shovel to fill bags.
All residents are reminded to exercise caution around fast-moving water.
For details on current river and stream levels please visit the River Forecast Centre or visit Flood Preparedness for important information.
