Firefighters to create commemorative wall in new station
Last week Fernie Professional Fire Fighters Local 2827 members took down a feature brick wall from the old fire hall. The brick wall was built by members in 1981, using bricks from the original 1904 fire hall (the current Seniors Centre).
“Behind the wall we found names and messages from the firefighters in 1981. Many of them have already passed away and we honour their dedication to protecting the City of Fernie,” firefighters noted on social media.
“Our goal is to use the bricks to build a commemorative wall in our new fire hall and continue the legacy of providing a dedicated, professional fire and rescue service. We honour the past and look toward the future!”
