Griz Days stays active in modified format

The last community event we attended and photographed was Fernie’s Griz Days 2020, three days before the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic around COVID-19.

Since then, all major community festivals throughout the East Kootenay have been cancelled.

And the first community event we’ve attended and photographed since the pandemic began was the modified Griz Days 2021.

While Fernie wasn’t anywhere near as wild and woolly as it usually is during the 44th annual Griz Days, one could find signs of it here and there, including in the modified parade. Parade onlookers drove through the bus loop at Fernie Secondary School to check out a dozen floats, socially distanced apart and then voted online for the best floats.

Thanks Fernie; it was nice to get out and experience a smartly planned event.

Huge shout out to everyone who came out to see the floats and to all those who voted!
