The City of Fernie today published a detailed online guide to assist residents whose properties have pipes susceptible to freezing.

Through the cold snap a few homes have experienced frozen water lines, the city reports.

“This can often be prevented by taking simple steps like installing a bleeder valve or leaving a tap running in your home during extreme cold temperatures.

“Visit our page on frozen water lines for information on how to prevent frozen water lines and what to do if you think you’ve got a frozen line.”
