Maiden Lake Dike Improvement work begins
The City of Fernie reports it has received the last of the required permits for the Maiden Lake Dike Improvement project.
The city says its contractor started work today, Monday, July 29.
The work will be done in phases where possible to limit closures, while maintaining public safety.
The first phase of work will be between the North Bridge and Maiden Lake, requiring the closure of the trail from the Annex Park under the bridge.
At this time public access to Maiden Lake will remain open.
“Please ensure that you are adhering to posted signage and staying out of any blocked off areas,” the city asks.
